Recycling Information and Tips
Reduce
Print or copy on both sides of paper. Make fewer copies and share copies with others.
Set printers to automatically print on both sides of the paper.
Simplify documents to reduce the total number of pages.
Access documents online.
Proofread documents online.
Store documents electronically on a disk, hard drive, or public drive instead of printing hard copies.
Instead of cover sheets for faxes, use Post-it fax transmittals.
Use plastic, glass, or ceramic plates and mugs instead of disposable ones.
Reuse
Reuse file folders, envelopes, binders, etc.
Collect paper that has been used on one side and use the other side for draft documents, scratch, etc.
Re-label old storage boxes. Reuse them again and again. Packaging materials are also reusable.
Log on to the Los Angeles County Materials Exchange website to donate,
acquire or exchange materials with other County and non-County agencies.
Recycle
Recycle paper.
Recycle beverage containers, printer/copy toner cartridges, used oil, and other materials.
See your Recycling Coordinator for information on your departmental recycling programs.
Place paper recycling bins near print stations (see image rt).
Buy Smart and Close the Loop
Ask your procurement/supply officer to purchase recyclable or recycled products for office supplies and equipment.
Buy post-consumer recycled paper.
The County offers discounted prices on recycled-content paper.
Purchase products with less, reusable, or no packaging. Request that deliveries be shipped
in returnable containers and return cardboard boxes to the distributor whenever possible.
Buy products in bulk or in concentrated form in order to reduce packaging.
